About me
I am a Postdoc at the CRC1456's Infrastructure for exchange of research data and software (INF) project since 2022, under the supervision of Prof. Christoph Lehrenfeld and Dr. Markus Osterhoff.
Developed work
My work at the INF project is related to the promotion of open and accessible research throughout the other CRC 1456 projects.
To achieve this goal, the INF project acts in manifold fronts, to grant its project members with the means of disseminating their research findings in an easy and accesible way. The main areas in which I act, as an INF member are:
- Research Data Management (RDM) support: Providing CRC members with the support needed to handle their own research data and publications, through the usage of available RDM tools such as GRO.data and GRO.publications.
- Research Dissemination tools: Developing tools to make the results from CRC1456's research publications easily accessible to the general audience such as the LiveDocs platform, a collection of technologies assembled to make the transition from research data collection into interactive online environments easy, thus allowing researchers from CRC to provide the general audience with controled development environments, which allows reproductibility and re-usability of research findings. Moreover, I also work in the backbone of some of those technologies, such as Binderhub, by providing and maintaining CRC 1456 Binderhub servers, and a LiveDocs template for creating livedocs from GWDG Gitlab repositories.
- Workshops and Training on RDM tools: Designing and presenting workshops on relevant RDM topics, to level the overall knowledge of CRC 1456 members on important tools for RDM and for development, such as workhops on Gitlab (overall), CI/CD, Docker and LiveDocs. Some of those workshops were also provided to the general audience, in RDM-related events such as the MaRDI Barcamp and FDM@Campus
- General Support: As a member of the Infrastructure project of the CRC1456, I am also in touch with the other project members whenever there is a need for technical support on other aspects. For such issues, we try either to solve it immediately (when possible) or to bridge the contact between CRC project members and technical support from other platforms.
Outcomes
As a result from my work at the INF project, we are producing a white paper on the LiveDocs platform, describing its development, the tools behind it, and the potential contributions of LiveDocs to open science. The paper preprint can be read here.
Moreover, the work on LiveDocs in cooperation with other CRC projects yielded a collection of LiveDocs showcases that can be found in our LiveDocsRepo website.
